Description

‘Boardwalk, Study for a Sculpture’ is a drawing created during an artist residency in Lithuania, developed as part of the research for the exhibition Down the Hatch. The exhibition was presented at East Quay in Watchet, Somerset, and explores the rich histories of British pub culture through a queer lens, centering on traditional brewing, pub signage, and community gathering.

Down the Hatch reclaims and reimagines the overlooked narratives of British pubs, particularly those from medieval Britain, including the pioneering female brewers known as Alewives. Hat Cocoon, Study for a Sculpture forms part of a series of drawings on found paper that accompanied the wider body of work within the exhibition.

Please note: this artwork will only be available for delivery after the exhibition closes on 11 January 2026.
