7m 55s, single channel film, DOP - Paul Blakemore
Always Pouring explores the process of homebrewing while weaving in historical insights and curiosities uncovered during research into beer-making.
The main character wears an oversized hat, referencing the traditional uniform of alewives who would don large headwear when selling their ale. Greenscreen is used to create a “third space” within the film, playfully layering visuals that illustrate both the narrative and the brewing process.
Always Pouring was first presented in
Down the Hatch (2025), a solo exhibition commissioned by East Quay, Watchet and funded by Arts Council England.
